TPL has a high-qualified staff, including a group of Opinion Leaders in their respective fields supervised by two academicians, many young and middle-aged scientists as the backbone of TPL, and a team of technical personnel. The whole group is perfect in the combination of its members’ age and knowledge structure, stuff cooperation and dedication to the scientific development.
Since the last assessment, the regular staff has grown to 53 from 27, including 38 professors (researchers included), 12 associate professors (vice researchers and senior engineers included), and 27 PhD student supervisors. Of the talents, there are two members of the Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering respectively, and 3 special professors under the Changjiang Scholar Plan, 4 recipients of National Excellent Youth Funds and 4 recipients of Education Funds for Trans-Century Talents. The title of One Hundred National Excellent Theses has been awarded to four doctorate theses, two staff members have been nominated for the National Talents Project. There are one outstanding contribution expert of state level and twelve of provincial and 5 of ministerial levels.

National Natural Science and Technology Foundation for Innovation Research Teams – an innovation research team on key security issues in high-speed train operation
The innovation research team on key security issues in high-speed train operation, based on TPL, in close connection with domestic needs, takes its aim at the international forefront of the relevant disciplines. It is to establish a research and application system of railway vehicles taking into overall consideration dynamics, tribology and fatigue.
There are 4 recipients of National Excellent Youth Funds, 3 special professors under the Changjiang Scholar Plan, 4 recipients of the title of One Hundred National Excellent Theses, who have all been gathered in this group when its establishment was first approved. The whole group is perfect in the combination of its members’ age and knowledge structure, stuff cooperation and dedication to the scientific development.
The group has been award two second prizes for National Natural Science and Technology and for National Science and Technology Progress respectively.
Innovative group of Ministry of Education----an innovative group on modern rail vehicles and relevant technology
Innovation group of Ministry of Education, based on TPL, carries out basic and applied researches in terms of design theory, dynamics, strength as well as reliability, centering on modern rail vehicle and relevant technology. Further investigation will be done in five aspects: vehicle-track-bridge interaction, new type vehicle design, derailment mechanism and reliability, fatigue reliability of vehicle structure, magnetic levitation trains.
Nearly 20 excellent scholars, in their prime life, have been gathered here when the group first approved, including 3 special professors under the Changjiang Scholar Plan, 4 recipients of education funds for trans-century talents, 7 outstanding contribution scholars of the ministerial or provincial level or above. The title of One Hundred National Excellent Theses has been awarded for four doctorate theses.
In recent years, the group has been awarded a first prize for National Science and Technology Progress, 4 ones for the same title by Ministries or Sichuan province, and other prizes.
