Traction Power State Key Laboratory has always pay attention to academic exchanges with foreign countries，setting up a series of open subjects to strengthen exchanges and cooperation both at home and abroad. The open subjects center on the main research domain of the laboratory, making full use of its equipment and emphasizing basic scientific research and application. The budget for Open subjects comes mainly from the Ministry of Railways.
There were eight open subjects set up in 2003 with a total budget of 330,000RMB. 27 ones were set up during the period from 2004 to 2007, for which a total number of 1.24 million RMB was provided, Among them, eight were set up in 2004 with accumulated money of 330，000 RMB，and 6 in 20006 with 280,000 RMB，7 in 2006 with 330,000RMB，and 6 in 2007 with 300,000 RMB.
